Today marks another anniversary of the martial law imposed in Poland in 1981. It’s a fitting moment for hands-on history lessons. In Wrocław, one can step back into the times of the Polish People’s Republic by simply walking through… a wardrobe door.
Students from classes 2A and 2B had the chance to experience this unique journey during their visit to the Konspira restaurant.
There, they were welcomed by a host—a witness to the martial law era—who shared personal stories from this challenging time. He spoke about daily life during the Polish People’s Republic and the courage it took to fight for freedom, offering students a rare opportunity to learn about history directly from someone who lived it.
This inspiring encounter became the starting point for an interdisciplinary project combining Polish language, history, and contemporary studies. It allows students not only to deepen their understanding of the past but also to explore its influence on the present.
A heartfelt thank you to the host at Konspira for this extraordinary history lesson, as well as to the students and teachers for their dedication! This was truly a journey through time that will remain in our memories for years to come.
